Medieval dress - made to order

Every year, come September, the 'Terra de Trobadors', a medieval festival is celebrated in one of the nearby villages, where many people dress the part and enjoy 3 days of festivities.

I designed and made this dress this year for Meritxell.  It´s made of 100% cotton velvet, with silver / black braiding as a trimming.  It came out really nicely. The colour is a gorgeous deep purple.

Art & English workshop

What a week!  After some serious organising and planning I hosted a 5 day (9am - 1:30pm) with 10 kiddies aged 3 to 11 in collaboration with the Ajuntament de Palau-Saverdera.   They certainly kept me on my toes and seemed to enjoy every second of it. (a handy online collage tool)

I won a Whimsy award (May 2012) on iATC for this piece.  Thanks iATC!  

 

Rainbow owl

This little guy is going to be made into a softie.  I´ve just ordered the fabric on Spoonflower. The finished softie (stuffed toy) will measure about 18 x 22cm (7,2 x 8,8 inches) Limited edition of 18 owls.

I opened my Etsy shop 'Colourfulleigh'  yesterday (woo hoo!)  This ACEO is listed - she´s a Moon Goddess, as well as postcards (small and large) of my most recent painting.

Elementals (ATC swap)

Salamander: fire elemental

At the moment I am working on a swap for iATC called 'ELEMENTALS'  I am illustrating the four elements: earth, air, wind and fire.  I am thinking of doing the 5th element: Aether as a hostess card (not sure how I´d illustrate that one though ;)  More info on Elementals here. Sketching

My parcel arrived this morning!  Yipee- 2 lovely sketchbooks and a set of sketching pencils - 8B to 2H.  Can´t wait to get going!  Just need my book to arrive and I can start my 'art classes' .  I ordered Kimon Nicolaides´ The Natural Way to Draw: A Working Plan for Art Study  Very mixed reviews on this - but I have a feeling it´s going to work for me.

A new set for an ATC swap on iATC  'Oh my Goth'  And, oh what fun I had bringing Gaatha to life!  I´m really starting to feel like I'm getting the hang of my new Stylefile markers.

CMT awareness

I recently entered this in an art contest on Facebook for people with CMT entitled 'EXPRESSIONS'. All entries will be published in Artist´s World magazine´s September 2012 edition which is dedicated to CMT awareness month!  CMT is a neurological disease that affects an estimated 2,6 billion people (click here for more information).

A fresh start

After blogging on and off for under a year on 'Ruby Barr' - I decided my name change (from 'Ruby Barr' to 'Colourfulleigh'), deserved a fresh start. So - here I am - let the blogging begin!

I have also opened an Etsy shop with the same name and should have that up and running (fingers crossed!) soon.
